Apologetics and Catechism
by St. Robert Bellarmine
St. Robert Bellarmine was not only the most prolific apologist of the 17th century, but of all time! Yet the loss of Latinity has relegated his valuable work to obscurity.
This is the first ever translation of St. Robert’s, On the Marks of the Church into English, translated by Ryan Grant, the translator of the Canisius Catechism. In this valuable work, Bellarmine lays out no less than 15 Marks of the true Church, which are all developed from the 4 given by the Creed of the Council of Constantinople (second half of what we call the Nicene Creed). Bellarmine contrasts these marks with the marks posed by Protestant teaching, so as to show where the true Church really is. It is a short read, at 135 pages, but is beautiful and hard hitting on every point. A segment describing some miracles and anti-miracles at the end is especially enjoyable.

Sacred Images
by St. John Damascene
Translated by Mary H. Allies
“War is toil and trouble,” wrote the poet John Dryden in 1697. Almost a thousand years before, a war in the Byzantine Empire proved no exception to this rule. Yet it was not a war of fire and sword, but of images and words, waged not in the name of domination, but of divine worship. It was the iconomachy—the war of icons—now known as the Iconoclastic Controversy. The Iconoclasts contended, in keeping with the Old Law prohibition of graven images, that depictions of God and his saints had no place in Christian worship; the Iconophiles contested this, distinguishing between worship and veneration to provide a place for sacred imagery in the Christian devotion and liturgy.
Among the Iconophiles, Saint John Damascene was a figure of prime importance. In his writings, he asserted that the Incarnation affirms the goodness of creation and bestows on matter the capability, in the words of Pope Benedict XVI, of “becoming, through faith, a sign and a sacrament, efficacious in the meeting of man with God.” Translated by Mary H. Allies from the Saint’s Apologetic Treatises Against Those Decrying the Holy Images, and supplemented by three of his sermons on the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Sacred Images is a timeless treatment of a fundamental truth of the Christian faith: that “God saw all that he had made, and found it very good.”

A Manual of Religion, A Catechism in Pictures
by Bp. Louis LaRavoire Morrow
The classic 1954 edition of this fabulous catechism.
193 chapters in three sections: What to Believe, What to Do, and Means of Grace.
Abundant Scriptural quotations (excellent for proving Catholic Doctrine to "Bible-Believing" Protestants). Conversations With Modern Man About Christ and His Church
by Msgr Robert Hugh Benson
A curious thing happened between the time Fr. Benson lived and where mankind finds itself today. The atheistic ideologies that were then only beginning to take hold in mainstream society have now metastasized throughout the contemporary world. The subtle and conversational presentation of this book is addressed to the modern man in that context. Fr. Benson gently exposes the whispered attacks, the implied ridicule, and anti-Catholic invective of his time and answers them with the patience of a friend, a father, and a priest. This apologetic approach is interwoven with the main conversation of the book: Christ’s Life and the parallels between it and His Church.
The genius of Fr. Benson’s book Christ in the Church is that he speaks to the reader with one goal in mind. Fr. Benson wishes for the atheist, the fallen away Catholic, and the poorly catechized to simply listen to a rational explanation of the world with Christ at its center.
Fr. Robert Hugh Benson is renowned for his contributions to Catholic literature. This recently rediscovered title is a fantastic example of why his books inspire people to come to Christ and His Church. Get this book for your family and friends and help them better defend themselves and the Faith against the modern errors.

by Fr Alfonso de Castro, O.F.M.
An important manual of Catholic discipline. Available for the first time in English, On the Just Punishment of Heretics is an important manual of Catholic doctrine and discipline. Author Alfonso de Castro’s scholarly contribution establishes the principles and historical precedent for identifying, distinguishing, and addressing heretics and heresy. This work is an essential tool for those wishing to defend the Faith from compromise and falsity. It is as applicable today as it was indispensable for the Catholics of the 16th century.
Book I
The first book discusses heretics, who they are, and how they ought to be admonished correctly so that they might first acknowledge their error and then return to the path of truth.
Book II
The second book focuses on those heretics who adhere to their heresies even after admonishment from Holy Mother Church. It also discusses the appropriate punishments due to such persons.
Book III
The third book shows ways to prevent heresies, including the duty of prelates and civil leaders to use their respective powers to prevent the spread of heresy. Those who ignore this duty impose upon themselves the ignominy of laxity and slothfulness.
As modern heresies and heretics continue to multiply, it is necessary to own reliable manuals that summarize, explain, and refute as many historical heresies and heretics as possible so that we might recognize and avoid their descendants in the future.

Pohle-Preuss Manual of Dogmatic Theology
12 Volumes in a Six Book set
by Fr. Joseph Pohle S.J.
Many Catholics living today can remember when priests were well trained in theology and could express the Faith properly in their sermons and in their writing. That is because they were given sound teaching at the seminary in Logic, Philosophy, and Dogmatic Theology from textbooks such as this 12 volume set. The famous Pohle-Preuss Manual was used in many seminaries in America and other countries prior to the 1950's when seminary training began to go downhill.
This particular manual was used in the Jesuit seminary where Fr. Leonard Feeney, who was one called by his Jesuit superior "the greatest theologian we have in America...by far" was trained. This beautiful hardbound series is an exact reproduction of the edition originally published in 1911, and it was written by Rt. Rev. Msgr. Joseph Pohle an edited by Arthur Preuss.
Joseph Pohle was a Jesuit and one of the founding faculty members of the Catholic University of America as well as a frequent contributor to the Catholic Encyclopedia. He died in 1922 after having produced one of the clearest and most succinct and useful systematic studies of Catholic theology ever published. This series is invaluable for priests, seminarians, and anyone interested in a systematic study of dogmatic theology.
The original publication was in 12 separate volumes. This set has been re-issued as a complete set of 12 volumes in six books.

Full Set of Six Hardcover Books, size 9" x 6",
by Fr. Henry G. Graham
What does Divine Faith really mean? No one outside the Catholic Church can answer the question with any certainty. Something indefinite concerning God and our Lord Jesus Christ, a vague and hazy notion about the truths of religion, is all that the term conveys to the non-Catholic mind.
And yet it is the most important question for the souls of men. For Our Lord said, "Unless you believe you shall be condemned" (Mark 16:16). What am I to believe? This is the puzzling problem that perturbs the soul of every well-disposed man and woman outside the fold of the Church.
They search in vain for something certain to hold on to, and the more they search amongst the non-Catholic creeds, the more they find confusion worse confounded.
What Faith Really Means, by Fr. Henry Graham, author of Where We Got the Bible, shows clearly the difference between Catholic Faith and Protestant trust in Jesus as Personal Saviour. It shows what Catholic Faith really means and why it is all-encompassing and soul-satisfying, as opposed to Protestant faith, which is really only trust in Jesus plus one's own interpretation of the Bible. This book is crucial for today when so many young Catholics are deserting their Faith for Protestant denominations.
